Students of Darmstadt University Visit Parliament

On September 28, a group of students from Technical University of Darmstadt led by lecturer Sybille Jahn visited the RA National Assembly. Let us note that the visit took place within the framework of an exchange programme of students from National Polytechnic University of Armenia and Technical University of Darmstadt.

First of all, guests took a tour in the parliament, observed the work of the NA extraordinary sitting and got acquainted with the history of the legislative body.

The Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Artak Zakaryan and the Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Youth and Sport Artak Davtyan, member of the same Committee Karine Atshemyan met with the guests.

Welcoming the foreign guests, who came to the parliament with a cognitive visit talked about the works of their Committees. Artak Zakaryan presented the foreign political priorities of the Republic of Armenia, touched upon the problems relating to the regional cooperation and the current phase of the peaceful settlement process of Nagorno Karabakh problem: in this context the Committee Chair has noted that today it is relatively peaceful in the Karabakh-Azerbaijani line of contact, but the calmness is regularly violated by Azerbaijan.

At the guests' request the Armenian MPs referred to Armenia's membership to the Eurasian Economic Union, the possibilities and perspectives of the development of the RA-European Union relations: as well as the existence of closed borders in the 21st century and Armenia-China relationship.

Talking about the Armenian Genocide recognition, Artak Zakaryan expressed his gratitude to the Bundestag for the adoption of the Resolution on the Armenian Genocide Recognition on June 2, 2016.

At the end of the meeting Artak Davtyan has expressed hope that the guests will leave Armenia with good impressions, and Karine Atshemyan has underlined that Armenia is a country of great culture and history, and who visits Armenia certainly wishes to come back.
